FYI… IIHS Midsize SUV headlight ratings just out — most rated marginal or poor

http://www.iihs.org/iihs/news/deskto...rginal-or-poor

Well, auto makers use these sharp cutoffs and then IIHS complains about poor illumination distance on low beam. Also, they indicate that even the best of these, when on high beam, only illuminate around 500 feet. To me, my 2012 Buick LaCrosse lights up the road a lot further than that on high beam, but what do I know? I do know that my LaCrosse low beams are dangerous, in that they only illuminate maybe 100 feet down the road, due to the cutoff(I do think I am going to raise the right headlight beam a bit, even though doing so will make the high beam a bit high on that side). Side of road illumination is terrible. My 2012 Hyundai Genesis 4.6 is far superior on low beams and side of road illumination.
